Meet with your Career Coordinator in the CEEC for an orientation and assistance in connecting with resources, information, and contacts for your intended career path.
Build experience in your first-year through service learning and Talent Opportunity Programs(TOP). Service learning provides you with opportunities to serve diverse populations within the local community. TOP provides structured professional and leadership development experiences. Both of these programs will help you to gain a competitive edge as you prepare to pursue graduate or professional school.
Establish a strong grade point average in your major and overall.
Utilize the Learning Center and peer tutors for academic assistance when necessary.
Year 2
Enroll in CED 220: Foundations of Professionalism to prepare for a co-op by developing a polished cover letter, resume, and interviewing skills.
Review graduate/professional school requirements and develop an action plan.
Attend career fairs and other CEEC events to build your professional network and identify shadowing and co-op opportunities.
Begin job shadowing and service learning experiences.
Apply for co-op/internship, patient care, clinical, research, and other work experiences with help from the Career Center.
Meet with your Career Center coordinator to establish goals.
Year 3
Enroll in CED 303: Charting Your Path to Graduate School in the fall to help you prepare for graduate school interviews, personal statements, essays, navigating the graduate school admissions process, and more.
Prepare for graduate school entrance examinations (e.g. GRE, MCAT, PCAT, LSAT). Explore Career Center resources for help and support.
Attend information sessions, open houses, and virtual fairs for desired institutions and professions.
Attend graduate information sessions, career fairs, and other on-campus and virtual events to learn about your program of interest and meet admissions counselors from a variety of graduate level programs.
Continue gaining related experience through patient care, shadowing, research, and work experiences.
Begin Centralized Application Service (CAS) and institutional applications.
Request letters of recommendation from potential evaluators, professors, and advisors.
Year 4
Schedule mock interviews with the Career Center to prepare for graduate admission interviews.
Attend a gap year workshop.
Volunteer to provide peer support and guidance to first and second-year students as they research schools, study for graduate admissions exams (GRE, MCAT, LSAT, etc.), etc.
Share graduate admission results with the Career Center team.
